Admissions

Our School is situated close to the town of Uttoxeter in the village of Rocester, home to the JCB World Centre and serves a defined catchment area  for children aged 5 -9 years. Under the terms of the 1986 Education Act we have an open enrolment policy, which means that parents outside the area must apply through the Local Education Authority's Admissions Officer.  Online applications to the school can be made by visiting the following website:

From September 2013 applications for pupils to transfer school during the year will no longer be co-ordinated by the local authority.  Parents will then apply directly to schools who will then notify them in writing whether a place is available and then must inform the School Admissions and Transport Service that an application has been received and of its outcome.

The current policy of Staffordshire allows children to be admitted at the beginning of the academic year in which they will reach statutory school age. Thus your child may start school at the beginning of the Autumn Term (September) if he or she reaches 5 during the next 12 months ending on the following 31 August.  For admission in September 2017 your child’s date of birth will be between 01.09.12 - 31.08.13.

The admission arrangements for children entering school in the reception class will be presented to parents in June prior to the children starting school.  The vast majority of children will start school in September on a full-time basis and so will attend school for the whole day.

The school’s admission limit is 30 children each year. There are currently 90 children in school organized in four classes, a reception and year one class (Robins), a key stage one class (Blackbirds) a key stage one/two class (Owls) and a key stage two class (Eagles).

We subscribe to the current research that mixed age learning and teaching can be very effective for children of all ages, and our good results indicate the success of our provision.
