The Governing Body

The governing body works closely with the Headteacher to provide an effective education for the children of Dove First School. It is made up of parents, staff, local authority representatives and community governors.

If you have a child that attends Dove First School you can be elected as a parent governor. Being a school governor can be both rewarding and challenging. It is a great way to understands how the school operates and to support the staff in delivering the best education for our children. You quickly develop new skills and practise existing ones.

The duties of the governing body are to set the strategic direction of the school, develop effective policies and clear objectives. Annually the governing body meet to set the school budget, and then review progress against the school’s budget and objectives. One of the most important roles of the governing body is to appoint, challenge and support the headteacher.

If you can offer enthusiasm, have a strong sense of commitment and a skill or role that you feel will benefit the school and would like to support the future of the children at Dove First School, then come and join the governing body.

The Chair of the Governing Body is Mr Kevin Flower

The Vice Chair of the Governing Body is Mrs Janet Matthews
